Nashville Brands + Collaborators
I am one of those rare breeds: a Nashville native. I grew up on the outskirts of this city and have watched it sprout up in a wild, sprawling fashion — becoming less small town and more vibrant with each passing moment. One of my favorite things about our growth is the entrepreneur undertones that seem always to be surfacing. New, creative businesses with bold ideas and thoughtful services that make this city special and valuable.
When we staged First Lady Acres this August, I knew I wanted it to be a collaborative project — I wanted this iconic home to feature what the new Nashville look likes and how creativity and artistry continue to thrive in meaningful ways. While you can read more about the staging of Tammy Wynette's home here, I wanted to take a moment to introduce you to the brands who partnered with us on this project and made it a 100% stunner. Be sure to check them all out; they're Nashville's small business rockstars.
Steinway Piano Gallery
It seemed impossible to stage Tammy Wynette's former home without an ode to what she was best known for: music. Plus, from a design perspective my favorite pieces in homes are those that fuse beauty and function — items that provide value and grace. And a piano is undoubtedly the hallmark of this breed. Our friends at Steinway were kind enough to partner and provide us with an absolute jewel — a Steinway Model M Baby Grand finished in a satin ebony — that we positioned as the feature design element in the main living space.
As you can imagine, a country music icon's closet is huge, so we needed to find the perfect, refined shoe line to help us line those massive white shelves.
Our first call was to our friends at Nisolo — a fashion brand based in the Buchanan District of Nashville that offers intentionally and ethically made products for men and women (think: shoes, bags, belts, jewelry).
I love Nisolo's collection because everything they produce is everyday top-notch. Day-to-night versatile. Filling up those First Lady shelves with their shoes and accessories was a dream.
Consider the Wildflowers
For Tammy Wynette's old dressing room, we knew we wanted feminine details that were both classic and beautiful. Emily Eggebrecht, the founder and owner of Consider the Wildflowers, was kind enough to loan some of her beautiful jewelry pieces to give us that really delicate touch. Personally, CTWF is a favorite for well-considered gifts. Their flagship store in Germantown carries their signature line alongside other well-curated designers and makers. Pop into their store to see the goods in person or shop online.
No woman's house is complete without an epic wardrobe. And when filling Tammy Wynette's closet, we knew who to turn to: Nashville designer, Cavanagh Baker. Specializing in limited edition, made-to-order garments, Cavanagh dresses high profile country music stars to socialites. Her designs are thoughtful, approachable, and luxurious.
Cavanagh was incredibly generous and provided some pieces from her designer collection to line Tammy's deep closet. Interested? Her collection is available exclusively at her studio in Cummins Station.
Sarah Cihat Ceramics
The best designed homes are those where details are always listened to. I love going into spaces and seeing kitchens poised with well-made dinnerware and serveware. They always elevate a space and make the everyday act of dining something really inspired. When we started designing the kitchen, I knew I wanted to utilize some carefully crafted ceramics. Sarah Cihat had the perfect collection — feminine, unique, but accessible. Specializing in clay, Sarah's various collections are individually stunning. She moved from Brooklyn and now works from her own studio here in Nashville. Her collection of cast porcelain dinnerware is presently available at Barneys New York, Food52, and Wilder.
ELT Collective and Image Optical
The Thompson family is one of my favorites in Nashville. They balance luxury, beauty, and entrepreneurship with such grace and thoughtfulness. Mello Thompson is the owner of Image Optical — a luxury eyewear boutique in Nashville since 1988. IO provides quality, statement frames from speciality designers entirely unique to our city.
Her, daughter, Erin, followed in her footsteps — focusing on well-made, quality fashion accessories that separate and distinguish. In early 2017, Erin launch ELT Collective — a brand that specializes in all-purpose, contemporary leather handbags.
The two brands together were a natural fit for First Lady Acres, adding that elevated, lived-in touch.
Poppy + Monroe
We love our sweet neighbors at Poppy + Monroe. The Germantown-based retail boutique and nail salon located right around the corner from our studio is centered around providing natural products to promote natural beauty (safe, non-toxic, and environmentally conscious). The "hers" bathroom in the First Lady master suite is a minimalist dream, so we wanted to bring in some of Poppy's thoughtfully selected products to give the space a touch of softness and femininity.
Fanny + June
I love a good statement piece, so when we were decking out the First Lady dressing room, we knew we wanted some additional accessories that were bold and memorable. Fanny + June was a natural go-to. Their custom hats are that little extra something that helps you express your personal style.
Anna Zeitlin, Fanny + June's designer, has created a line of hats for men, women and brides. Each Fanny & June hat is consciously crafted by hand in Nashville using traditional millinery methods.
When we started to think through Nashville partners, Tavola Wines was on the top of our list. First Lady Acres is a space for entertainment, and no one entertains in a more curated and inviting way than La Tavola's owner: Robin Riddell Jones. Robin is a hospitality anchor in Nashville. She's helped develop wine programs and established high quality wine service training in some of Nashville’s most notable restaurants and retail stores, including Josephine, BurgerUp, Epice, Merchants, The Catbird Seat, and Grapevine." While she stocked the bar at First Lady, you can have your own taste of Robin's treatment with her wine tasting classes or monthly wine club. Don't miss out.
Red Arrow Gallery
Art is one of the most transformative design elements in a home. It gives a space personality, warmth, and cadence. Red Arrow Gallery was a tremendously important partner in designing First Lady's interiors. With such white expansive walls and 10,000 square feet of living space, we needed design details that would be prominent statement pieces and really showcase the contemporary gallery potential of this residential icon. Peek through more of the home gallery to see Red Arrow's pieces in action. All pieces can be purchased through Red Arrow Gallery.
