Twelve Finds: Jamie Brickell

The beautiful thing about being a design-centered company is that our staff is full of thoughtful, nuanced individuals. It seems everyone on our team has such a great eye for finding treasures and making everyday spaces feel really valuable and worthwhile. Over the next few weeks, I'm excited to use this Twelve Finds space to introduce you to our ladies who truly make 12th Table what it is. You'll get a peek behind the scenes and into their design mind, learning all about what they love and invest in. I hope you enjoy it!

Up on the docket third: our lovely Regional Design Services Manager, Jamie Brickell. Shop her picks and read all about her hosting sensibilities below!

What do you think makes a great host?

Someone that is present and interacts with their guests. I think it is so important to engage with guests instead of being behind the scenes in the kitchen or worried about cleaning up etc. Let the dishes pile up and worry about that when your guests leave!

Out of the products you recommended, which do you love most and why?

Hard choice but probably my oil diffuser! That’s the first thing that guests always comment on when they enter the house. I just love how fresh it makes the house feel!

What's your favorite time of year to host people, and why?

Summer, hands down! I love a good backyard hang.

What is your go-to beverage or dish to prepare for guests? If you want to include a recipe, feel free!

I am a sucker for a specialty cocktail, I usually prepare a batch cocktail for the ladies (type varies depending on the season) and let the guys peruse the extensive whiskey collection my husband has. Flank Steak! It is so easy, good anytime of the year and there are so many options in terms of side dishes that pair well with it.

Recipe:

1 Flank Steak

Marinate for at least 24 hours in:

1 cup. Vegetable Oil

1 cup. Soy Sauce

1 cup. Worscheester Sauce

1 cup. Lemon Juice

1 Spoonful of garlic

Grill at 500 degrees for about 4 minutes on each side.

What's on your home playlist when guests are over?

It’s usually a mixture between Van Morrison, Jason Isbell and Bon Iver….after dinner we’ll pull out all the stops with some old school rap :)

What is your best piece of advice for hosting newbies?

Plan, make and set ahead so you are able to actually enjoy yourself! Don’t make it look like you tried to hard, keep things simple yet significant!
